Craigslist has been kicking their phone verification into high gear in the last couple days. It is very likely that you already run into the issue. Sometimes when you and your office post ads on Craigslist, you might hit a screen where it says phone verification is required, and you will not be able to post any more ads until the account has been verified. If this happens to you, then it is also happening to other agents using the same internet connection (ip address).
The cause of this is mostly associated with how many ads you are posting from that internet connection. The more you post, the more likely you will run into it.
What Can You Do?
- Verify your Craigslist account(s). Give them a valid phone number, they will call you or text you and provide you with a verification code. Once you have your account verified with your phone number, posting will return to normal. Please be careful that in the future, if your Craigslist account is put on hold for any reason, your phone number will be blacklisted and you won’t be able to use it with Craigslist anymore.
- Wait till the next day. If you do not want to verify your account, you can wait till the next day to post again. Seems like this phone verification requirement is somewhat randomized. For now, if you wait till the next day, your account and internet connection will be unlocked allowing you to post again.
- Dedicated Internet Connection (IP Address). The more people and the more ads posting from one internet connection (ip address), the more likely you will run into the phone verification message. Posting with your own internet connecton (such as home) would reduce your likelyhood of seeing the message.

We are happy to annouce that we have released a new activity report. It’s important to stay on top of what’s happening in your company and in your database. The new report shows your user and agency activities (e.g. number of ads posted, number of listings added, number of photos uploaded, etc) by week The report is only accessible to users with User Management or Admin privilege. You’ll find a new link to this report on the Dashboard under the Reports section.
We are going to redesign and improve our reports section in the near future. Currently each report is independent of each other that show a different aspect of the system, yet the reports do not work together to give you the bigger picture. We are hoping to combine them together to give you finer control and more insights on the industry and your agency.

It is very important to us that you can get the help you need when you need it. We are happy to tell you that we added help documents for each page in the YGL system. When you need help on a particular page, you can click on the Help link on the upper right hand corner. You will see a new Explain This Page link in the help menu. Clicking on that link will take you to our help doc for this particular page. The help doc will explain what you can do on this page and how to do them. Please check it out. As always, we welcome your feedback on how we can make things easier.
We are also working on a series of tutorial and training videos. They will be coming soon!

We think the search results are easier to see bolded, so we changed all the search results to be bolded by default. But we also understand that you might disagree. If you don’t like it bolded, you can change it back to normal in My Profile page. See screenshot below for more info. We hope these little changes are helpful.

Customize Cities / Neighborhoods
A great listings database should be customizable based on your needs. Originally, YGL only allows an admin to select a list of cities to work with. You cannot further filter on neighborhoods.
We just added the ability for an agency to customize neighborhoods as well as cities. Once your select the list of cities and neighborhoods, only listings belong to the selected list will show up in the YGL database and on your agency website (if provided by YGL).
We also added the ablity for each individual user to personalize his or her list of cities and neighborhoods. This will override the agency selection. Only listings in the selected cities and neighborhoods will show up in the user’s YGL database, in his or her personal website and Facebook rentals tab. You can go to the My Profile page to personalize your list of cities and neighborhoods.
Set Default Listings Sort
We added a new personal setting for a user to set his or her default sort for the Listings tab. When this setting is set by a user, listings will intially be sorted based on the value of this setting.

In order to improve our user interface and make it user friendlier, we made a small improvement to the Listings tab and Leads tab. The old Add Lead icons are now moved on the upper right hand corner of the search results. We also moved the Favorite Search and Search History onto the search bar where the old Add Lead icon was. This way all the search related functions are grouped together. Please see the following screenshots for more information:
